More children in ACT set to benefit from a healthy Harold visit

More ACT students can experience the benefits of a visit from Healthy Harold, with the addition of a new wheelchair lift for the van funded through the ACT Government’s Disability Inclusion Grants.
Principal of Canberra Christian School, Bree Hills said installation of a wheelchair lift in the Life Ed ACT van would enable equitable access for students in the area.
“The Life Ed mobile classroom visited our school this week and as usual it was a fantastic experience for both students and teachers. This year the mobile classroom has a wheelchair lift to ensure wheelchair access for students who require the support,” Ms Hills said.
As a principal I felt this is a well needed and welcome addition to the classroom to ensure all students are able to access the valuable curriculum and educational opportunities provided by Life Education. This is a great move to ensure inclusion for all students.
Life Education NSW/ACT CEO Jonathon Peatfield said that it was vital that health education was inclusive and accessible to all students.
All students should have the opportunity to benefit from health and wellbeing education and Life Education NSW/ACT is committed reaching all students across the region, to empower them to live safe and healthy lives.
“Thanks to the Disability Inclusion Grant program, we have now installed a new wheelchair lift into our ACT van, so that all students in the region can engage in preventative health and wellbeing education, “ Mr Peatfield said.
Disability Inclusion Grants are available to community groups, not-for-profit organisations and small businesses to improve access to their services and community activities for people with disability.
