Ways to Get Involved

Spotlight on: Senior Educator, Gina

Monday, 20 May 2024

Life Ed WA’s Gina recently traded in her teaching tools for running shoes as she took on the HBF Run for a Reason in Perth, to raise funds and awareness for Life Ed WA.

This is just one example of how Senior Educator, Gina continues to go above and beyond to support the Life Ed mission and to reach children across the vast WA state. She shared more about her “why” as she reflected on her time as part of the team:

I have been with Life Ed WA for eight years. My role as an Educator is to travel to schools all over WA to deliver education that empowers students to make safer and healthier choices. Along with our friend Healthy Harold the giraffe, I teach students lessons for life in a fun, engaging and age-appropriate way.

Over the years, there have been many memorable moments. It’s hard to pinpoint a specific one, as every day is filled with laughs and smiling faces from students as they leave our sessions. If students come up to me and say they loved what they experienced and they had fun, then I know I have done my job.

I especially enjoy being able to engage with students with a disability, or ESL (English as Second Language) students and seeing their faces light up when Harold comes out. It is a truly amazing feeling and gives me so much joy.

Well done to Gina for completing the 12km HBF Run for a Reason course on 19 May! Thank you for your passion for education and dedication in ensuring every child thrives in WA.
