Harold's Online World - What Your Child Will Learn
This new module has been developed for students in Year 1 and 2 and teaches children about:
- The importance of staying safe through interactive scenarios
- How to be respectful both online and offline
- How to seek help and identify trusted adults who can provide support
- Different technologies and strategies for promoting healthy and safe use
The lessons in the module are designed to teach kids about digital safety and wellbeing in a way that is fun and suitable for their age.
One of the tools used is a simulation of an online game. Students follow Harold and his friends as they play this online game together. Along the way, they encounter different scenarios where they are encouraged to use their critical thinking skills to learn about privacy, being respectful, and how trusted adults can help them when things go wrong or they feel worried or unsafe.
How does it work?
Of course, Healthy Harold and one of our fabulous Educators will come to your child’s school for the Life Ed lesson and together they will bring learning to life through hands-on experiences and lots of fun!
We also provide teachers with a series of pre-prepared lessons to complete with students before, and after the Life Ed visit. This is to help embed learning.
These “plug– and– play” lessons include activities, videos, discussion questions and lots of opportunities for students to learn and to practice making positive choices.
As parents, did you know that you have an important role to play too?
Learning about online safety, wellbeing and respect should go beyond the classroom. Because the online world is everywhere, every day, and we have a responsibility to prepare our children for this – to keep them safe.
