Google Australia and Life Ed have joined forces to take online safety education beyond the classroom.
Together with the iconic Healthy Harold, Google and Life Ed provide the Be Internet Awesome program. This initiative offers valuable tips, resources and a game designed to help parents, teachers, and students stay safe online.
Be Internet Awesome focuses on five key online safety fundamentals:
- Share with Care: Digital Footprint and Responsible Communication
- Don’t Fall for Fake: Phishing, Scams, and Credible Sources
- Stay Safe and Secure: Online Security and Passwords
- It’s Cool to Be Kind: Combating Negative Online Behavior
- When in Doubt, Talk It Out: Questionable Content and Scenarios
The program provides tools and resources to support parents to continue the conversation at home through activities and guides, while also providing curriculum and lesson plans for teachers. Additionally, the learnings are put into hands-on practice with Interland, an adventure-packed online game that makes learning about digital safety and citizenship interactive and fun—just like the internet itself.
Kids can celebrate completion of Be Internet Awesome with a certificate, and families can take the Be Internet Awesome pledge to be safe and confident explorers of the online world.
