Ways to Get Involved

Join us at Healthy Harold’s Moree Festival of Health

Tuesday, 2 Jul 2024

On Thursday, 8th August, Jellicoe Park will transform into a vibrant sea of colour from 3:30-5:30pm as the community gathers for Healthy Harold’s Moree Festival of Health. This free, family-friendly event will feature a Colour Run with Healthy Harold and various interactive booths hosted by local organisations, offering invaluable insights into health, safety, and well-being.

Designed in consultation with the Moree community, the festival aims to promote health and mental well-being, spark conversations about positive health outcomes, and provide inclusive opportunities for community engagement. Participants of all ages are invited to run, walk, or dance through the course, immersing themselves in a rainbow of coloured chalk powder. The Lions Club of Moree will provide a complimentary BBQ for attendees, and there will be exciting giveaways from local community organisations.

Life Ed NSW is the state’s largest provider of preventative health education to children and young people. From July 29th to August 9th, Healthy Harold’s Moree Festival of Health will engage over 1,000 Moree children and young people through the Life Ed program, hosted at their school or early learning centre.

Healthy Harold’s Colour Run is a cornerstone event of the festival, presented by Life Ed NSW, with support from Moree Plains Shire Council, Headspace/Centacare, Moree, Boggabilla and Mungindi Community Health team, Miyay Birray Youth Service, Moree Family Support Service, the Lions Club of Moree, Johnstone Concrete and Quarries, and Chiropractic Life Moree.

During the Colour Run, the beloved Life Ed brand mascot, Healthy Harold the giraffe, will be available for photos at the outdoor photo booth provided by Moree Family Support Service, where visitors can also learn about the general welfare and support services available to families, youth and children in the Moree Plains Shire.

Attendees can meet local health service providers at the Moree, Boggabilla and Mungindi Community Health team hub, which includes information on Child and Family services and Aboriginal Wellbeing Family Violence Prevention programs. They will also offer giveaways and activities for younger children.

Miyay Birray Youth Service will provide transport for young people to attend the event safely, and Moree Plains Shire Council will bring their Library van and offer road safety information. Headspace and Centacare will host a stall providing information on mental health and well-being services in the Moree region, along with complimentary popcorn.

Healthy Harold's Colour Run in Moree promises to be an exciting convergence of health, community, and vibrant celebration. With a diverse array of activities, colourful festivities, and local supporters, this event exemplifies Life Ed’s commitment to a whole-of-community approach to encouraging conversations and helping everyone learn about health, safety, and well-being,
Jonathon Peatfield, Chief Executive Officer of Life Ed NSW
