Ways to Get Involved

Ocsober raises over 300000

Monday, 12 Mar 2018

Moving swiftly through December, October may seem like a distant memory for many but thanks to thousands of passionate (and generous) Australians, we are still very much feeling the effects of the month!

Ocsober, our annual national fundraising campaign, celebrated its tenth birthday in 2018 raising $321,769 in support of Life Ed!

Throughout the campaign, the 2,000+ army of Ocsoberites were encouraged by positive health messages. Among practical advice for parents on how to talk about alcohol with their kids, Ocsober ambassadors helped encourage participants in their efforts.

This is a good example of not being controlled by alcohol and having the discipline and decision making skills to make informed choices.

While the money raised will support the delivery of our unique preventative health program, there’s an impact that hard to measure – Australian’s making healthy choices!

Matt Buggy is an example of this. The New South Wales musician took part in Ocsober for the first time in 2018. With the support of his band, family and the local community, Matt raised a total of $3,170 – a feat he is rightfully proud of.

“I am super proud of myself. It’s the longest of been off the drink for years.” Matt Buggy, Ocsoberite

If you missed Ocsober and would still like to help Life Ed combat the impact of drugs and alcohol in Australia, donations are accepted 24/7.
