Ways to Get Involved

Navigating the Social Media Delay Webinar

Thursday, 20 Nov 2025

Welcome to Life Ed’s Webinar: Navigating the Social Media Delay.

This session is designed to help parents, carers, educators, and community members understand the new laws coming into effect on December 10, which will restrict children under 16 from creating accounts on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat.

These changes are not about banning technology, but about delaying access, so young people have more time to develop the skills and resilience needed to thrive online. The focus is on wellbeing—empowering children to build digital literacy, critical thinking, and healthy habits before engaging with social media’s pressures and risks. The webinar will explore what the laws mean, why they’re being introduced, and how families and schools can support young people through this transition. Together, we’ll look at practical strategies, answer common questions, and share resources to ensure this shift becomes a positive opportunity for growth.

We also encourage teachers and educators to sign up to join the eSafety's 30-minute webinar for an overview of the upcoming social media age restrictions in Australia.
