Healthy Harold Principal Scholarship

APPLICATIONS OPEN: The Healthy Harold Principal Scholarship offers government school principals in NSW and the ACT the chance to embark on a tailored professional education program at the prestigious Harvard Principals' Centre in Australia.

Healthy Harold has 2 scholarships to The Principals’ Centre in Australia – a joint program of the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and Harvard Club of Australia (HCA). The five-day leadership program will be hosted in Sydney from 13 – 17 January 2025.

The scholarship includes 80% of the program tuition, hotel accommodation and breakfast, and a travel stipend.

Basic eligibility criteria include:

  • Being a current Principal or school leader in a government primary or secondary schools in NSW or ACT;
  • Leading a government school with an ICSEA score of less than 1,000, or located in regional and rural areas
  • Having your school booked to participate in the Life Ed program in 2024/2025

 

How to apply?

  1. Submit a response 500 words or less answering ‘Why should you win the Healthy Harold Principal Scholarship?’ via the following form: Healthy Harold Principal Scholarship (lifeed.org.au)
  2. After submitting your response, complete the program application via the HCA website here: Apply online. On applying via the website, applicants will be asked to create an account to manage their application. To be considered for the scholarship, an applicant must tick a box on the application form to indicate their intent.

 

About the program: Leadership relevant to your school environment

Featuring regionally based content, including Australia-specific case studies, the program addresses issues of critical importance to school leaders: instructional leadership, leadership development, and family and community engagement.

Over the course of five days, you will work with colleagues from across Australasia, exploring research-based techniques and best practices as you cultivate a leadership plan for your school. Specifically, the program is designed to help you:

  • Acquire the leadership skills you need to improve instructional quality
  • Cultivate a school culture that prioritises learning for all
  • Identify optimal learning conditions
  • Build long-term strategies and design pedagogical initiatives informed by actual school data
  • Facilitate better outcomes by increasing engagement among family members and community stakeholders
