Harold reports his findings along the way to the kid scientists; to help students learn how food is processed, the role of nutrients in our bodies, and how the heart and lungs oxygenate blood.
This fun interactive lesson is presented as a kid’s TV news program. It follows a team of kid scientists who seek Harold’s consent before shrinking him down in size and placing him inside a tiny capsule to travel around inside the body to visit the body systems. Harold reports his findings along the way to the kid scientists; to help students learn how food is processed, the role of nutrients in our bodies, and how the heart and lungs oxygenate blood.

Step 1: Pre-lesson

The Inside Story – Pre Visit Lesson – My BodyStudents will be able to identify the body as having varied systems and can name some functions and components. Identify the function and components of the four body systems. And explain the function and components of the body systems.
Step 2: Life Ed Visit
This is the core part of the program. If you have booked a visit with Life Ed, this will be delivered in the Mobile Learning Centre or in your classroom by a specialist Life Ed Educator.
Step 3: Post Visit
To be completed with your class after the Life Ed visit.
The Inside Story – Post Visit Lesson 1 – NutritionStudents will be able to identify and explain some nutrients, vitamins and minerals needed for healthy body function and where to access them. Identify and explain what nutrients, vitamins and minerals are, how they help our bodies function and where to access them. And explain the function, effects and importance of nutrients.
The Inside Story – Post Visit Lesson – Physical Activity & Well-beingStudents will be able to identify and explain some of the benefits of regular physical activity on mental, emotional and physical health. Identify and explain the benefits regular, physical activity and movement have on the body and how to incorporate this into everyday life. Understand the benefits of physical activity and how to incorporate skills into everyday life.
Step 4: Booster Sessions
The Inside Story Booster sessions videos and discussion guides are the last part in the 4-Step program. A discussion guide with questions and suggested answers is attached with each booster session video. To meet all of the outcomes for this module, teachers are encouraged to use the discussion guides to extend student learning and observe student understanding of the content covered.
