SA State Government re-invests in Life Ed

Tuesday, 8 Oct 2024

The South Australian State Government has renewed its investment in the Life Ed program, committing $1.23M to Life Ed South Australia over 3 years, to 2027.

This is the third State Government agreement that the Life Ed SA team have secured. It includes funding to continue to deliver education with impact on a face-to-face basis as well as online to students across the state, with a commitment of 5,000 fully funded places for drug education including the delivery of Take a Breath in primary schools.

The State Government also recognises the importance of reaching regional communities and they will be working with the Life Ed SA team to ensure 15 per cent of students benefiting for the Life Ed program are from regional areas.

We’re really pleased with this outcome. It reinforces the Government’s belief in our work.

With the transition to a Labor leadership this year, it is also encouraging to know that our program has bi-partisan support. It shows the strength of our education efforts, relationship with the Department of Education, and impact in schools and communities across our state.
Gildi Carty, CEO at Life Ed SA.

The Life SA team have credited this success to their shared ability to continue to engage the State Government in the Life Ed story through timely reporting, regular updates and providing real-time feedback from schools as they deliver education on the ground.

This recent State Government funding win is one of many across the Life Ed Network as our leaders continue to recognise the importance and relevance of the Life Ed program to the issues facing young people today.
