World Teachers Day 2025
Did you know that in Australia we celebrate World Teachers’ Day on Friday 31 October 2025?
It’s a very special day to thank the wonderful hard-working teachers in our lives for the important job they do every single day. Teachers don’t just help you with maths, spelling, science or sport – they also guide you as you learn, grow, and prepare for life.
Teachers are amazing because they are life-long learners too! Just like you, they keep learning new skills and knowledge, so they can be the best teachers possible. Along the way, they inspire and encourage you to try your hardest, to attempt new things, and to challenge yourself to become the very best version of you.
Teachers also help us understand important values such as kindness, empathy, respect, integrity and perseverance. They remind us to believe in ourselves, even when things feel tricky and we can’t master them yet. Did you know that teachers are also trusted adults just like your adults at home who look out for your safety and wellbeing, and who truly want to see you succeed at school every day.
Now, there are also a few things that you can do to make sure you’re ready for school each day and ready to learn and grow. Here are four important habits:
Get a good night’s sleep – Aim for 8–10 hours each night. Sleep is when your brain sorts through everything you learned that day, storing it so you can use it later. It also helps your brain rest and develop, so you wake up refreshed and ready to go.
Practice good hygiene – Having a shower or bath each day and wearing clean clothes helps you feel fresh and confident. It also keeps your body healthy and ready to concentrate in class.
Eat a healthy breakfast – Breakfast fuels your body and brain with vitamins, nutrients, and energy so you can focus, learn, move, and play. A healthy breakfast might include:
- Wholegrain cereal or toast with fruit
- Yoghurt with berries and muesli
- Scrambled eggs on toast with tomato or spinach
- A smoothie with milk, banana, and oats
- Porridge topped with nuts and apple slices
Be ready to learn – By following these simple steps you can be ready to learn, which helps your teacher feel less stressed, creates a calmer classroom, and means you can get through tasks quicker – leaving more time for the fun activities you enjoy.
So, how can we say thank you to our teachers on World Teachers’ Day? You might like to write your teacher a card, or a small note, telling them how valued they are and how much you appreciate them. It doesn’t have to be fancy – even a few thoughtful words like, “Thank you for helping me believe in myself” or “I love the way you make learning fun” can mean so much. Life Ed have created some that you can print, colour and share from the link below.
On Friday 31 October 2025, let’s celebrate the teachers who guide us, encourage us, and help us shine. Remember – teachers help us learn, but they also learn with us. Together, we can all keep growing, caring, and striving to be our best.
