Ways to Get Involved

Bringing learning to life in the Goldfields

Tuesday, 30 Jun 2026

Life Ed WA brought learning to life in the Goldfields from Monday, 25 May. For five weeks, the not-for-profit’s iconic mascot Healthy Harold visited schools across the region to deliver the “Resilience of Country Kids” initiative, thanks to funding from Channel 7 Telethon Trust (Telethon).

As part of this Goldfields regional tour, specialist Life Ed Educators taught their full suite of 17 modules to all students at schools in Kalgoorlie- Boulder, Kambalda, Norseman, Esperance and Hyden.

The world our children are growing up in is more connected, more complex. We need to meet them where they are with education that builds health and digital literacy. This is the key to health prevention and building resilience across families, schools and communities.

This is particularly important in regional areas, where access and resources are limited. Every child deserves to thrive through education, no matter their postcode. We’re grateful that the Telethon team share this vision.
Bernie Foley, Executive Officer at Life Ed WA.

Life Ed focuses on early education, giving children the tools to navigate life’s challenges with confidence. By introducing real-world topics – like online safety, respectful relationships, mental health and vaping – in a safe, engaging way, Healthy Harold helps students to practice critical thinking and positive decision-making.

Life Ed WA has been supported by Telethon for a number of years. Each year, Telethon’s support has meant memorable experiences for children in regional WA.

“Telethon is committed to funding grants that uplift disadvantaged children and ensure they are provided hope and the opportunity to lead a healthy, safe and resilient life,” said Mark McCrory, General Manager at Channel 7 Telethon Trust.

This year, Telethon’s continued support will be bolstered by new local sponsor, Northern Star Resources Ltd.
