Ways to Get Involved

Healthy Harold visits the Goldfields region

Sunday, 8 Sep 2024

Life Ed, including its iconic mascot Healthy Harold, visited students in Western Australia’s Goldfields region from 12 August to 6 September as part of the team’s initiative to celebrate the “Resilience of Country Kids”, made possible thanks to funding from the Channel 7 Telethon Trust and Life Ed’s Thrive Children’s Fund.

As part of this regional visit, specialist Life Ed Educators visited North Kalgoorlie Primary School, Kambalda Primary School, O’Connor Primary School and Esperance Primary School to deliver memorable education experiences to children from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In a recent Life Ed survey, WA students and parents indicated that their biggest areas of concern are in the online safety, mental health, consent and now, vaping space. That is why we delivered modules that explore these topics as we visited the Goldfields region.

Teachers are under pressure to deliver the crowded curriculum, and this is especially difficult for those in remote schools with limited funding. That’s where Life Ed comes in.

As our programs are contemporary, interactive and curriculum-based, schools trust us to partner with them to deliver outcomes for their students that will have a positive impact on their health and safety into the future. We’re grateful to the Telethon Trust team and supporters of the Thrive Children’s Fund for sharing in this vision and enabling us to visit more country kids, schools and communities in 2024.
Bernie Foley, CEO at Life Ed WA.

Life Ed WA has been supported by the Channel 7 Telethon Trust for a number of years. Each year, the Trust’s support has meant memorable experiences for children in regional WA.

It’s great to see Telethon’s support for these initiatives reach and positively impact the lives of country kids who might otherwise miss out on these valuable educational experiences.

We are dedicated to empowering children with the essential knowledge and skills to lead healthy, safe, and resilient lives.
Mark McCrory, General Manager at Channel 7 Telethon Trust.
