Ways to Get Involved

Keeping teens safe in SA

Tuesday, 1 Oct 2024

At the end of September, the Life Ed South Australia (LESA) team attended the annual RAA Street Smart High Expo at Adelaide Entertainment Centre. More than 100 high schools attended over three days to have students learn about road safety.

The LESA team were on hand at their specially designed Take a Breath stall to raise awareness about the risks of vaping and smoking.

We used the take a breath interactive app to showcase how smoking and vaping effects your body and reaction time. Students were very keen to test their knowledge with myths and facts on vaping and smoking, with the results highlighting the need for Life Ed’s content with how prevalent it is in this age group and that still so many teenagers do not understand the harms of vaping.

Of course, no Life Ed experience would be complete without Harold. In a scene straight out of a blockbuster premiere, Harold stole the show as the top attraction at Street Smart High, with lines stretching as far as the eye could see. High Schoolers eagerly queued up for a chance to catch even a glimpse of Harold, B - lining straight out of the auditorium doors to our stall for a chance of selfies, polaroids, and laughter as engaged with fans, turning the meet-and-greet into an unforgettable experience.

Life Ed’s visit created an environment of fun and learning, reinforcing timeless messages that grow with students, equipping them to handle life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
